Dart LT1 heads
#31
well I am going to invest in a bare set for my build. From what everyones opinions are on these I think running them out of the box I will get decent performance and with a little help from LE they ought to be some stout heads.

When I talked to Dart about 6 months ago, (right after they made 20 sets of LT1 heads), they said the heads were all 60cc chambers and the assembled ones would all have the Comp 987 spring installed at 1.80". They come with guide plates and 3/8" rocker studs, (in a bag).
It looks like Jeg's has a relationship with Dart to get other chamber sizes. That may be just their special deal. Jeg's also shows a choice of valve spring. I'm sure all of the choices are case by case and the cost will be added for the better parts and time will be needed for assembly.
My 1st 2 pair of Darts were via my normal wholesale engine builder parts supplier and that is when Dart had 20 sets on the shelf. Right now Dart is out of stock, (apparently).
Ai has turned me onto another Dart dealer that has some LT1 heads, (bare), in stock right now. Possibly more info will be available soon after I see what they have.
They do have huge pushrod holes so I'm sure any rocker will work. I'm using Probe shaft rockers (standard SBC) and they fit like a glove.

That is interesting about the chamber sizes. I was thinking that the smaller chambers that Jegs is offering would be a good start for a n/a or nitrous 355.
I am still leaning towards a set of AI TFS heads for a blower motor but I might wait and see what happens with these darts.
It is good to know that you can use some shaft rockers like the Probe's, because at about $600-$750 a set that is a pretty good deal for shafts.

Yeah I understand that I was just saying these out of the box don't belong on a stock bottom end car with the 58-60cc chambers.

I see what your saying. I was thinking more like a zero decked thin head gasket 355 with a slight mill to the head, and the 58cc's is nicer than the tfs 62cc's for that.

The Darts are sweet as hell. I'm looking at having AI do a set of their 325cc Pro 1's for my BBC this winter. After I see more results with their converted LT1's, I may have a set done up for the Z28 along with a SR conversion.

Honestly don't think theirs much of a demand for a head like that, the guys that run them will more than likely convert an existing set for reverse cooling.
