Deactivating Fuel Injectors?

Deactivating Fuel Injectors?
With cylinder deactivation a new trend in automotive circles (remember Cadillac's V4-6-8?)
What if you simply remove the connector to one or two of your fuel injectors (cyls 2 & 3)? Would compressing the air without fuel have a negative effect? Would there be an excess of air (oxygen) in the exhaust that negatively impacts the 02 sensor readings (probable)? Would you improve your gas mileage? Would there be excessive vibration due to the failing cylinder(s) not firing?
Just curious...

Would drive the O2s wild and I believe the fresh air coming through like that would overcool those cylinders. I think the OEMs that do this shut both valves and the dead cylinders become air springs basically.

Re: Deactivating Fuel Injectors?
There was somebody who reprogrammed their PCM a while back... I read it on here and it was very interesting. He said it sounded like a 4 banger
You'd have to search back probably about 8 months or so.
I believe the term is "displacement on demand" or something.
