What do you guys think?? I just got off the phone with AP Engineering, and here's the skinny:

355, cast Eagle ESP Crank, Eagle ESP 4340 forged H-Beam Rods, Diamond Ultra-lite dished pistons, 11.0 compression ratio, Federal Mogul/Clevite bearings.

$2500

OR

Pay an extra $450 and get an Eagle ESP 4340 Forged 3.75 crank and make it a 383.

My heads that made 375/363 with the 224/230 XE cam will be used, as well as all other compontents. Either setup will get a custom cam.

Only thing that comes to mind is in fact that the heads ARE ported LT1 castings, and I'm not sure if they would hold back the 383 up high.

I can't decide if the extra cubes is worth the price. Either way, an order is most likely happening tomorrow.

For the first time rebuild I would stick with the 355. You can allways years later take it to 383. Stock ported heads will be just fine for your setup. I am now producing 557 FWHP out of Max stock ported heads.I have seen a few people in the Cincinnati area that got a 383 the same time I did, and now regret going with a 355. good luck , and be carefull in what ever you choose.
