did a search, still need help
i'm rebuilding my lt1, i dont understand 2 things
its a 95 lt1 from a roadmaster
i dont understand how to get the oil filter adapter off
i took out the two allen head screws, and the thing wont budge, i'm afraid to use excessive force, but everything on this motor required excessive force
is there a trick to it, or is it supposed to pop out after the two allen screws?
i read there are two different types, i cant tell the difference the one i have has two holes that come straight out for the cooler
the second thing is the water pump drive shaft, gear and bearing
i removed the two torx screws that hold the plate on, and its not moving
is it pressed into the block? how do i get it out

Re: did a search, still need help
I'm not sure about the oil filter adapter, but I've only seen two bolt holes in that area that go vertically up into the block. If the fastener that you removed is position in that way, and you took both of them out I'd use a rubber hammer to tap on the adapter to try and loosen it.
The waterpump drive assembly is pressed into the block. I'd grab a socket that is just small enough to fit in the machined hole that the assembly fits in, and using a hammer tap the drive out the front.

if the engine were in the car, the two allen head screws mount vertically on either side of the part where the oil filter screws on, the oil cooler lines are vertical
as for the water pump drive assembly, do i have to take it out before i send the block to a machine shop, and if i do take it out, how the heck do i get it back in?

Sounds like you have the retaining fasteners off the oil cooler adapter. Try the hammer trick.
You could just leave the waterpump drive in place and send or drop the motor off at the machine shop. It's a very simple item to remove and re-install. Might as well have them put it back in place for you also.
