direct gear

will direct timing gears from a standard sbc work on a Lt1

There is a cam gear drive set made that will work. Jackson maybe??

You can adapt a Pete Jackson gear drive. You need to switch to an electric water pump, since it won't have the water pump drive gear on the timing set. And the LT1 timing cover needs to be machined to get it over the gears.

You will need to disable the knock sensor, since the gear noise will drive it nuts. There's a site that shows what was involved with using the Pete Jackson setup on an LT1. Interestingly, after about a year he yanked it off because he absolutley could not stand the noise.

Click on "My 94 Firebird Formula" and then look around the year 2000 entries for the gear drive inifo and links.
