Dissapointing Dyno numbers!

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
I put down 320hp through a A4 with my hot cam stock bottom end and stock head lt1. So I know something is off; try getting it leaned out some. I had a ignition problem with mine and only put down 300hp, but 265 with a m6 is really low. I think the tune is off or it is running on a stock tune.

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
Moates isn't a "tuner". They supply tuning hardware and software to do-it-yourselfers.

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
If the car seems to be running good then I would get a tune from PCMforless.com or Madtuner.com; for all you know the tune could have been done by someone who has never done a tune on a lt1.

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
No way that thing has ported heads, he flat out gave you bs. I had stock heads that had 120,000 miles on them and were floating the valves and it still put out 334rwhp thru the hotcam only. Only other mods were boltons..

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
im telling you what I was told. Heads are very nice but heads are besides the point. I'm just wondering what's up with the low numbers. Ill try another tune. But ca feels wayyyyy stronger than what dyno graphed.

Ahem.....OR....as injuneer said Moates just provides tuning software. I mean, for everything that's done and even being rich, those are low numbers. Ported heads....eh......little skeptical, but my bet is the tuning job is just super super crappy if there at all. For with PCMforLess. I've only heard good stuff 'bout them.

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
While there is some varience from one dyno to the next your numbers do seem low for your mods. I recently had work done to my LT1 and my car stock with 11k miles dyno'd at 260 rwhp. Maybe with a correct A/F ratio it should bring those numbers up as the others have said.

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
I once had a setup that before tuning did 286 and after tuning (doing tuning myself and it was my first time ever tuning) got it up to 330 rwhp... I'm guessing you can get to 330 as well if your tune is really bad...

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
One thing to keep in mind is there is currently no standard that I know of from one dyno to another. You might put down 300 on one dyno and put down 325 on the next. Don't concentrate so much on your "dyno number", but FWIW, they do seem a little low. As long as you go to the same dyno and the air is about the same it will give you a good idea of your improvement.
If you have a track near-by go and run there to get a baseline of your time and MPH. Get your tune and run again. Granted there will be some variance depending on the temp/humidity, but it will give you something to compare with before and after.

There ia an article in the March 2011 issue of Hot Rod Magazine that's pretty interesting about chassis dynos! http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/g...ing/index.html

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
I agree... seems like stock heads. You are missing about 60hp, and that isn't because of the A/F.

Re: Dissapointing Dyno numbers!
Alright guys went to the track Saturday and ran a 8.41 at 86 mph with a 2.04 60ft. Alvin from pcmforless happend to be there so he's going to tune my car when I get a cold air intake he said the stock one is killing me. Also found out I have stock gears not a 4.11. What do u guys think of the pass? With a tune and sticky tires and intake I see improvement. I saw a lot of guys trappinng 85 and hitting 7.90s. So I know the power is there. I cut my cat and muffler off and noticed a hugggge difference. Thanks guys
