Do I need o2 sims?
My car is a 97 camaro with lt1 and in the shop now getting jet hot LT headers put on. The guy doing the work said I will need o2 sims, because it will run rich or lean, he said one of those. I only have 1 cat comming off a mufflex y pipe also if that info is needed. Do I need them? If so, where's the cheapest place to get them? It seems they're going to be $100 to get both of them. Anywhere cheaper than that? TIA

Re: Do I need o2 sims?
Yes you need O2 sims. All the rear O2s do is detect if the cats are working, if you won't have any then they obviously can't work so you need to trick the computer with the simms.

Re: Do I need o2 sims?
Doesn't matter what your exhaust looks like, or how many cats you have. You either plug 2 O2 sims into the harness connectors for the after-cat O2 sensors, or you could weld 2 O2 bungs into the exhaust pipe, after the single cat. Would work either way. Would not affect engine operation in any way, just as it wouldn't affect engine operation if you left the after-cat sensor off completely.... as noted above, they don't "control" anything, will not make your engine run rich or lean. If they aren't there they would just light the SES light and you might get tired of looking at it.

I'm glad you chimed in Shoebox,
I have my Jett Hot LTs and the rear O2 simm are just disconnected. Yep, my engine light is on but I'll have it programmed out once I send the pcm off.
Glad you posted this question camaro 22, I'm not trying to steal you post
