Do the A.I.R. pumps go bad? And if so where can you get one? cause the parts stores here say that they are no longer available. Or Is it more likely the relay? They are only 5 bucks so im gonna run get one to see.

Yeah, they go bad. That's why there was a recall on them affecting most 95-97 models. I believe they have to remain available (at least from the dealer) because they are part of the emissions equipment.

Do I really Need it? Or can i just unplug it? Would that hurt the power Much if i did? With it plugged up, The fuse blows everytime. Unplugged, No blow.

sounds like the windings in the motor are shot. u can leave it unplugged and ull be fine. wont set codes. the only prob is when in open loop she'll smell very rich till in closed loop, thats how mine is till i get my computer reprogramed for the removal

A 1996 is more likely to throw a trouble code than your 1994.

Its already giving me 1641 and 1642 with it plugged up, wich is why i've been tracing for shorted wires for the past 3 months. Then when i realized the AIR was also on the same fuse, I unplugged it and no blown fuse.

The AIR pumps rust and sieze up, increasing the current draw.... the fuse blows. All it takes is a little bit of exhaust leaking back into the pump when its off, and the water in the exhaust condenses and causes the rust.

And as Shoebox pointed out, the "no code as long as there is a good fuse" only applies to OBD-I. In OBD-II the PCM actually checks for AIR flow into both sides of the exhaust system, by cycling the AIR pump and looking for a corresponding change in the O2 sensors.

I unpluged the air for now, I think i might have a new one on the way. But i noticed when i took it out for gas that it seems to have quite a bit more power with it off, Yea i got the SES light on, But its barkin tires into 2nd and 3rd at like a quarter throttle. Should removing the A.I.R. give you more power or am i better off with it?

AIR has no effect on power. It's all in your head.

I ripped my AIR pumped off last summer. I found some plugs and plugged the headers. Made some room and saved some weight.
