Does our cars need the alternator to fire?
All,
Do the alternators need to be turning before our cars will fire up?
Took down my Hawk over a month ago on an opti issue. I have replace the opti and have done a complete diagnostic on the ICM, fuel pressure, and opti signal. All check out good.
I did not want to put the dampener on yet to check to see if it will fire up. However since all is checking out, it makes me think that the aternator needs to be turning for these things to fire.
This is the last thing I have before I change the computer (however, the computer checks out in all circumstances so why change).

You don't have a racetronix fuel pump booster setup do you? If so that wiring harness hooks directly to the back of the alternator and thats where it gets its power from. I've fought starting my car with out the alternator so I could adjust the rockers and it took me forever to figure out that it wouldn't fire because the fuel pump harness was unhooked.
