Angry Dtc 36

So let me start by saying this, I am new to this site, but was turned onto it by a friend and there seems to be some very knowledgeable LT-1 guys out there.

trying to help a buddy through an issue and would like nothing more than to have this puppy diagnosed, repaired and road worthy before the weekend is out.

95 Z28 , lil cam, roller rockers BBK shorties, 6spd, correct tune etc, etc, etc.....
The car had a small stumble followed shortly after by a viscous miss. Engine cut out completely and wouldn't fire until it sat for a minute or two. Its seems to idle erratically and wants to stall. Driving it now, it just sounds like sh%t and feels flat. It threw a code 36... The opti harness was replaced with an after market piece (from RH valve cover to opti) that has me wondering about a faulty connector. perhaps I have a burned up wire, but merely testing continuity wont yield accurate data. This is a very intermittent problem. If anyone can throw out their experiences with a TC 36 or any opti issues I would really appreciate it!

BTW Cap rotor and opti are all new. Obviously you can NEVER rule out bad eqipment, but I am leaning towards a wiring fault.

Thanks in advance for any help

Re: Dtc 36

How are you reading codes?

I believe you have another problem. A 36 will NOT kill or otherwise effect the engine. I proved it (GM service manual also states that as well).

A 16 will kill the engine and does NOT light the SES. And it usually accompanies a 36.

I suggest you monitor the fuel pressure since a 16 will cut out the fuel pump. FYI it also cuts out injector pulses.

Speedy, the 36 is the only code present as indicated on the Scanmaster in the vehicle. Interestingly, there is no accompanying code 16...when the issue occurs, it sets the SES light, but the light will reset every time the ignition gets cycled. Would the code typically remain active if the problem was actual component failure, or is that neither here nor there?

This is confusing... is your DTC 36 thread about your car, or are you helping IrishFly with his DTC 36 problem, or are you highjacking his thread?

Re: Dtc 36

Would be a lot less confusing if someone explained that. Appears now you have 2 threads going on the same topic. More confusion.

I'm just trying to help you get answers here.
