Dumb Wheel Combo. Question!

Dumb Wheel Combo. Question!
I was thinking, I really want WS6 Wheels to complete my psuedo-WS6 look as well as have the ability to use larger Tires help me out with traction, but money is tight. I have been getting mixed reviews of switching to 17s, people say they will hurt more than anything because of the added weight, then again some people swear 17s are the best thing to happen to F-bodies. I have never personally weighed 16X8's with 245s next to 17X9's with 275s, so I dont know how vast the weight difference really is. Would it be worth it? to keep my stock 16X8 five spokes up front, and wrap them in Pizza-Cutter 225/'s, then buy two Ws6 wheels wrap them in 285's, and I would hope that I would solve the weight issue and of course recieve greater traction. To me, the T/A Five Spokes and the WS6 wheels are identical, besides the size difference( and the center caps, but I would want to keep my Pontiac ones, so no big deal on that), so I think it would be a cool way to save some weight and money. Opinions? BTW I am talking G-Force T/A KDW tires, 225/55/16 and 285/40/17.
According to Brent Franker (http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/weights.htm):
16X8 w/ a 245-255 tire weighs about 45-48pnds
17X9 w/ a 275 tire weighs about 55pnds
I dont know how much the weight difference would be with a few sizes smaller or larger tires, I suspect it would be within a few pounds. So is a 10pnd per wheel/tire difference enough to matter?
Thanks
nathan
