The cam is not really "that big" for a 385 and when you are making over 350 RWTQ in the 2000-2500 RPM range, you will be lucky to make HP to 6500 RPM. This is one of the trade offs for having a pretty streetable cam on a wide LSA.
These are LT1 heads. Not LT4, TFS. AFR, etc. The MCA on these heads are about 2.0" and will only make HP on a 385 until "so far" with a streetable hyd roller before the HP #'s level off and drop.
I am sure it is a fun ride even though the #'s level off and fall sooner than some would like.

Similar to what you stated earlier, a 420rwhp car is nice to see and will be a handful on the street, regardless of some of the internet racing community's opinion otherwise (not necessarily present in this thread).
The power levels of the work generated by the most reputable porters and builders is only a 'potential' and not guaranteed. Your results will vary.

I got the dyno chart earlier today from Lloyd.
350rwtq from 2000-6500rpm
400rwtq from 3800-5800rpm
around 420rwtq peak
over 400rwhp from 5000rpm up
The peak HP is at 6000rpm

Look up Total Seal QuikSeat powder... I've been able to get rings to seat really quickly with that stuff in a motor.
As for the rest of this post......
These numbers I still think are awesome to see, I had Lloyd touch up a set of LT1 heads for a carbed 383 with a single plane. 2.02/1.60 valves and 268cfm on my bench and the thing made 592hp on the engine dyno. Once you tweak a combo like this as Denny did you can really find some good power.

The power falls off because the casting and valve size is not enough to support higher rpms and the car was taken to 7000 rpm where most people only go to say 6500 rpm. It just looks worse than it really is because it was taken that high. That's also the reason I'm going with bigger heads is to get the powerband better on top. After all, these are “economy” heads.
Again..... this is nothing that anyone on this board cannot replicate using easily available parts if you're very careful to as many details as possible. I may have a bit of a tuning advantage as I'm getting close to a 1000 tuning pulls on my own cars but any good tuner can do the same thing if they take the time. You can see on the lower scale how much tuning I got done on Saturday and what another couple of hours did yesterday. So tuning helps.
I’ve been asked several times to do a complete mod post so instead of responding to each e-mail, I post them today. Don’t have an up to date list and looked at an old one that was about a mile long including AFR 227 heads, Monoblade, ect. Probably won’t work. I’ll do an updated one.

Actually I should also mention that Scott Whitehorn at A&S automotive is the one whom really figured out how to get the extra power on the top end so it never hurts to have a little help.
Scott tunes a lot of local cars.
