Question ECU Computer Tunning Help???

what software do I need to buy to reprogram the ECU to not read the EGR and is there a way that I can Remove the O2 sensors from the ECU or what would happen if I did that. I basicly want to run my Car with no Smog caponents at all. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to tell us the year of the vehicle and PCM.

'93 uses an EPROM based PCM. You might want to search the forum for information on converting to a 94-95 PCM, which are flash based. The tuning software is Tunercats, and you'll want Datamasters for datalogging and you need a interface cable from AKM Cables.

If you remove the O2 sensors it will never go into closed loop. Theres no reason to run only in open loop unless your cam requires you too, in which case you're just SOL. You're mileage will drop 15% in open loop and you won't make any more power.

If you don't want to convert to the newer style PCM the stuff to reporgram the EPROM is available. Works well with Tunercat.

If it's just the EGR and you won't be wanting reprogram the PCM for other reasons, then just plug the vacuum supply to the EGR valve. Without vacuum from the intake manifold it can't open. The PCM will think it's activated it but EGR won't function (no codes will be set). If your activation switch-solenoid switch is the same as in 1995, then removing that plug and inserting a resistor to simulate the switch electrical load will also work. I used a 560 ohm resistor from Radio Shack. Again, no EGR code is set. (This is just for OBDI cars. It's said that the OBDII PCM looks for a dip in the MAP value to verify EGR operation.)

There is an OBD-I diagnostic for lack of EGR flow - same MAP analysis. Its just not very sensitive, and maybe 80% of the people who delete EGR in OBD-I don't get a code. But some people do get DTC 32 when EGR flow is deleted.

Thanks for the info on OBDI EGR diagnostics.

the reason why im asking is because i recently wrecked my camaro and im puting the motor into my 72 camaro but im thinking of getting rid of all the smog components since i dont need them. plus it makes the engine bay look cleaner.

In OBD-I, AIR can be deleted by unplugging the AIR pump, and making sure there's a good fuse in the circuit = no codes. The EGR and EVAP solenoids can be deleted simply by using a resistor in the harness connectors for the solenoids, as outlined in the post above = no codes. EGR may or may not set a code. If you get one, have it programmed out. There is a "spoof" circuit that uses the EGR solenoid to alter the MAP signal when the EGR system is activated, but its cleaner and easier to have the code eliminated, if it even shows up.

Bypass the key pellet
Getting the right resistor value:
http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#pass_key
Remember you can be within 10% so get the closest value.

Placing the resistor

Note the wires in the picture are in an orange tube
Use the connector, don't cut any wires.

after 10+ years of LT1_edit under our belts now, the ability to modify any variable at whim has reduced countless headaches.

Disable skip shift? Simply raise the enable temp to 300 degrees.

Gear or tire changes? no problem for speedo calibration.

Timing and fuel - Ignition settings at all kpa and rpm. PE tables, injector size, engine displacement, fuel enrichment, MAF tables, etc.

Rev limiter, cooling fan start and stop temps, speed limiter

auto trans - complete.

However, the learning curve is not short or easy. Lots of time and effort and shared information makes the difference.
