Edelbrock ???

Although 450 at the flywheel might be easy for (the right shop) to do, it does not mean it's going to come at a cheap price. And no I do not recommend going with the Edelbrock heads and or package.

What most of us do go by is Edelbrock's own MARKETING numbers which if anything you would expect to be stretched.
Look at their website on the graph they claim a 76hp gain with the heads and cam and then at the note that that gain included the addition of 1 3/4" headers. We do not need to test them Edelbrock has given us enough info already. Now if they were publishing numbers vaguely respectable then it would come down to testing but the numbers they publish are just sad.
If someone wants to try them fine, but understand you are acting as a guinea pig and take the time to understand the numbers. People do have to go out on a limb now and again to find new things, what many fail to understand though is new does not equal better it just equals another attempt at taking a slice of the LT1 aftermarket pie.
Given the published numbers I could not in good conscience suggest anyone try them, especially not without having them ported.

A lot of people have shot down the Edelbrocks but praise the Trickflows heads. I don't understand this because if I wanted a brand new casting I would start with the Edelbrocks. They have more potential than a stock casting and already have a small combustion chamber (no milling needed) to keep compression up unlike the Trickflows. I think Dennis from Airflow Development stated that they would probably be the best starting point for good lt1 heads. I do agree that they wouldn't be worth the time putting them on out of the box.
