edelbrock air gap lt4 intake or OEM lt4 intake... which one!
What would be the better intake to match with AFR or AI's trickflow 21 degree heads...
Edelbrock air gap lt4 intake? or OEM lt4 intake?
It seems like the 'air gap' between the engine and intake is a good idea..(maybe the intake charge gets cooled a little by it).
However, I heard someone at total engine airflow say the ports on the edelbrock piece arent lined up as good (meaning there may be some mismatch that needs to be gasket-matched) and its not as good quality.
Also, would you all go with the red color or the non-painted color. The issue I worry with the red is that it could flake off (though ive never seen this happen) and really look bad.
Finally ! my car is a 93 so the intake doesnt have that little notching cut in the top for the fuel rail cross-over (since the crossover was at the rear on mine)....
Do the lt4 intake and edelbrock lt4 airgap intake have that notching? Id prefer they didnt so there is nothing in the roof of the intake that could impede airflow!

Why do you want an LT4 intake.
IMO you are going to be better off with your stock intake ported
The LT4 is internally the same as the later LT1 intakes, the Edelbrock stuff is a bad joke. If I were to use LT4 castings I would sooner have a little more material added above the ports on an LT1 intake.
Both the Edelcrap and LT4 have the crossover.
Your stock intake is arguably the best available direct fit, largest internal ports and lacks the fuel rail trough.

definitely a good thing.
Ok, so you confirmed the edelbrock stuff is a joke (just like they told me at Total engine airflow)...
will try to make my lt1 intake work!

In providing the almost imaginary "air gap", they reduced the plenum volume. Last thing you want on a high air flow engine is reduced plenum.

GMHTP did a article comparing the Edelbrock air gap lt4 intake to the stock intake and what they found was that the edelbrock didn't really do anything. I think the edelbrock actually lost hp.

I had my shop put extra notches in the roof so the air could slow down to make the turns into the intake runners
