Edelbrock Shorties Y-Pipe Gaskets???
Hello-
Are there supposed to gaskets on the Edelbrock Shorties where they connect to the Y-Pipe? Mine do not have them. I am getting extra noise that is retarding timing, even with the LT4 KM.
Any Ideas?
Thanks for any ideas you have.

Re: Edelbrock Shorties Y-Pipe Gaskets???
Yeah, they have some little 2.5 inch internal diameter donut gaskets that get go between the y-pipe and header on each side, assuming you have the standard single cat Edelbrock setup, no idea about the dual cat cars. I'd imagine you would get some heinous leaks with them missing, the pipes don't really even try to seal up without them...
Used to blow out on my 87Z that used the same gaskets (if you don't have the y-pipe aligned and pulled up evenly they will develop leaks), my local NAPA had replacements, but I always carried the bad one up there to get the correct replacement, no idea of the application it was listed for... It's the same donut on the used set of 94-95 LT1 Edelbrock Shorties that I have sitting in my garage ready to go on...
Snapped a quick pic of mine, it's a little worn so I don't want to try to pull it off, probably tear it up but hopefully you get the idea. Slips over the tube on the y-pipe down to the flange, and gets crushed up into the flange on the headers on each side:

Ah, a real quick search on google turned up a perfect pic of what you're looking for to give you a better idea: http://customclassictrucks.com/techa...xhaust25_z.jpg Needs to be 2.5 inch internal diam, like I said my local NAPA had them on several different occasions (once I dropped the ypipe and got it installed a little better they never blew out again, and I never had this problem w/ the same type of headers on my 86 IROC afterwards).

Re: Edelbrock Shorties Y-Pipe Gaskets???
Part #6937 on edelbrocks website. Buy from www.summitracing.com under part # EDL-6937 for $12.69.
Cheaper here http://www.paceparts.com/index.asp?P...D&ProdID=81218
Thats just for two gaskets. They say one on some sites, but trust me, its a complete set (pair).

Re: Edelbrock Shorties Y-Pipe Gaskets???
Thanks for all the assistance!
Mine has these, but they were pretty thin from what I can remember. I will drop that Y-Pipe and replace them!
Thanks Again!
