egr and air removal, help please
ok, i have taken off both manifolds and the pump looking thing for the A.I.R. to the right of my opti. Now my question is how do i get that metal tube that went from the right manifold to the left manifold out
also after i get the rear egr parts off the intake manifold what else is there?
i noticed a tube going from the left valve cover to the TB, does that come off as well, If im not mistaken i think that is part of the AIR system
Thanks guys,
Scott

Re: egr and air removal, help please
I took a hack saw (a dremel would work better) and cut the metal tube in three different places to get it out.
This should help you too

You will probably get codes and SES light for the removal of the EGR and AIR systems. They either need to be programmed out of the PCM (leaving you with "system not ready" warnings - in the event you have emissions testing, where they hook up to the ALDL connector), or incorporate a circuit that places a resistor in the MAP sensor circuit when the EGR solenoid is supposed to activate.
There is really nothing to be gained by removing these systems, other then eliminating a little bit of plumbing for the AIR and a few #'s of weight.

Remove it if it makes you feel better.

Remove it if it makes you feel better.

already bought the NON-egr ready headers

And don't forget that if you have an LT4 hotcam or something with similar overlap, the EGR is redundant and not needed, hence the reason LT4 motors have no EGR.

cool, I think i will just be getting an EGT gauge and put it in the collector of the y-pipe (where it goes to the cat-back). That way i can monitor temp and that way i know if it gets to hot.
Thanks guys.
