EGR is removed, but the hole in the back of the intake is still open.

You will have a HUGE vacuum leak with the EGR valve missing, and no block off plate. I wouldn't drive the car that way.

the actual EGR valve is still on the intake but the pipe that goes to he header, where the crinkled up pipe goes in, is off. with no vacuum going to the EGR.
my mech. said it was fine to run it this way without the vacuum going to it.
car is running like crap, but thought it was a tuning problem.
ordered PCM4less last week, but hasnt arrived yet.

i think i have heard people cut the crinkled tube and pull it out then rtv like a penny or nickle over the hole on the inside then bolt the plate back up. I just cut the tube and removed it then welded up the hole where the tube went through then reinstalled it.

The hole in the back of the manifold where the pipe connects does not have to be blocked off as long as the EGR is not functioning. It routes to where the EGR valve is, and when that opens, then there is an opening into the intake manifold.

Did you plug the exhaust manifold end?
OK I see you have long tubes... no hole? [just was a thought.. that would make it run crappy too]

Also, any chance the EGR might be stuck OPEN? They do at times..

O ****!!! If the egr aint there then it will cause a vacuum leak guys??????????? (have mine on... BUT.......) I have a ses and its throwing a code about the egr. My car at times feels like it has a vacuum leak, and all the pressure is not being kept inside the engine, you can hear the power escape like a little air noise. When I restart my computer it goes away for like 5 minutes then comes back. Its a noticeable lack of power that irritates me. Tell me if this can be my egr malfuntioning and How I can fix the power problem and also the ses problem. Just get a new egr????????
