EGR Malfunction

Ok so i am getting a code that says egr malfunction but i pressed on it it went in and out and changed the rpms when i did but can it still be bad i bought a new one today and i was wondering if i should just put the new one on or just block it off. Is there any kind of templet i can use to cut a plate with and what about gas milage i have heard that it decreases your gas milage when u do it?

Re: EGR Malfunction

GM makes a block off plate that fits the LT1. It was stock on the LT4 cars. You can block it off, but you may have to have the computer reprogrammed if you have an OBD2 car or you will most likely throw a code.

The easist way to see if you have a bad EGR valve is to depress it totally at idle. If the car dies, then the valve is good, if it keeps running, then it's bad.
