Electric Vacuum pumps for big cammed cars....
My car has very little vacuum to operate my power brakes. ( Big cam)
I've recently purchased a vacuum canister from Summit. This this is about 6" tall and 4-5" in diameter. Too big to fit it in my engine compartment, although is doable.
My question is, has anybody here run an electric air pump like the ones that come on the Cadillacs 94-97 models?
I'm looking for something efficient and space saving.
Anything you guys can recommend, please share the info.
Thx-Goose.

you might want to consider switching to a GM Hydroboost system. this uses your power steering pump and fluid as the power assist, instead of vacuum.

Re: Electric Vacuum pumps for big cammed cars....
The LT5 motor in the ZR1 Corvette has an electric vacuum pump to operate the secondary injection system butterflies (the LT5 has 16 injectors). Since the driver has his foot to the floor when the secondary injection system is needed, there is no intake vacuum to operate it. So, the electric vacuum pump is used to supply the vacuum for the secondaries.
