Eliminating dash rattles
My upper dash is cracked, and I am planning on replacing it soon. While the dash is out, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to lessen or eliminate the rattles. I was thinking about using the spray that stereo guys use to stop rattles. Has anyone attempted anything to eliminate the rattles? If so, how did it work out? Thanks.
P.S I am getting SFC and I already have a STB.

The dash on my '94 use3d to drive me crazy. I bought a sheet of fiber carpet padding at the local hardware store, and cut it to fit under the dash panel ( the big panel under the windshield. I also bought a roll of foam rubber weatherstripping, 1/2"x3/4", I placed this under the conatct points of the dash panel, and behind the radio/AC trim piece.
I also lined the trunk with Dynamat, the large trunk panels act like speakers and transmit low frequency road noise. Pull back the carpet, and tap the panels, they sound like drums.

I took my dash cover off to locate a rattle (actually more of a squeak), and think I havee found my problem;
Where the windshield meets the dash, there is some sort of black sealant that runs the entire length from left to right. I noticed that right in the area of the squeak, it appears as though this stuff has separated from the dash.
Just something to look into.

My 1997 doesn't have any annoying rattles coming from the dashboard yet, but I know those rattles appear overnight. I have a v6 '95 Camaro, and I have lost count of all the rattles I have. Anyways, since I will be replacing the upper part of the dash soon, I just thought I could do something to prevent these rattles from appearing. Thanks for all the input guys.

I also found a bunch of large hard plastic shavings inside the Bose rear speaker housing. Apparently they didn't bother to clean it out after they drilled some holes in it. It sounded like a rattle when you cranked the stereo.
You can reduce quite a bit of transmission and road noise by adding a piece of carpet padding around the shifter.
