So, I did a search and read about the low resolution signal. But what causes this? Is my opti cooked or is it just a fluke kind of thing? Thanks, Greg

There are several connecting points from the opti to the PCM. At the opti, then a short 3 foot harness and finally at the PCM. So start with the opti and check the pins for bent or more likely corroded and work your way up.

You may need to do some testing so see if the signal is getting all the way to the PCM.

Could be the optical sensor in the opti but do some checking first.

ok, because I did replace the opti about 2 years ago. I guess ill put it up and check it out. I would guess it is the opti tho, but i'll see.

Clear the code, and see if it comes back when the engine will not start.

ok I just cleared the code, im just worried that the opti is going to give out when im on my way somewhere and leave me stranded! Also, the first time it did this, the code came on right away when the engine stalled. Then after driving it for a day, the code went away. Now it stalled three times right in a row, then it came back on.

oh wow, no I havent seen that before! I was just checking under the hood yesturday tho. Was also thinging, my front main seal leaks really bad, so i was thinking the corrision probably would not set in there. Also wondering if the oil was maybe getting into the opti and wrecking it. Its not a super bad leak, a couple drips everytime i stop tho.

Ding ding ding ding ding. We have a winner. Oil leak at the front seal near the opti and a low res DC. I think you found it.

Ok, so after driving the car for approx. 1,000miles the car has yet to totally shut off. It normally spits a couple times at high RPM, otther than that its fine? Now where do i go? COuld i get away with just fixing the front main seal leak? Or is my opti cooked already? any ideas? thanks Greg
