it is my motor in the picture, i dont see where you can see the metal "everywhere" but there's no metal shaving and the oil was not metallic.

gonna pull the oil filter and cut it to make sure.

100% rod knock. Spun rod bearing.

I'm not a station wagon person, but that thing looks good!!!

Great follow up man. Good to see people keep track of there threads to help others and the pictures are great. Sure enough spun rod bearing causing your PTV clearance to be minimal/none...lol. That crank looks trashed IMO. It's just cut way to deep and you can pick up a Scat 9000 for good reassurance. I wish you luck with the build and that wagon is absolutely sick. Good find. What plans do you have with this motor?

this motor is not being rebuilt, my friend who let me bring the car to his place and has been helping me had a 34k mile LT1 sitting in his garage. he pulled that motor when he had Golen build him a 383, so we took that motor to:

his motor, even at 34k, had oil blow by because of the supercharger on it, needs a ring job, so once that engine is freshened up i'll put the new cam in, i had my cam reground to the GM 845 spec:

ordered LS7 lifters and beehive 915 springs, gonna have to go with longer pushrods since cam was ground down and from my research the cup in the ls7 lifter sits about 10 thousands lower than stock lt1. so the cup sitting lower + cam ground = longer pushrods for sure.

rebuilding the opti while it's out, got a new water pump, new coil, and i don't know if the stock rockers will bind under the .509 exhaust lift with the new cam, if so i'll go with roller tips

on another note, why does this forum resize pictures even if they're hosted somewhere else?
