Engine Overheating

Just a little follow up on my last post. I was asked to bleed the coolant system with the two bleed screws while the engine was running. Well, that's what I did, but no liquid came out of either. The temp gave was where it usually is under normal running so the thermostat should of been open, as well this is a new thermostat that was put in around november.

Tnx for the info,

J

hm..if no coolant came out that would mean air came out...right?

so that is a good thing...you opened them when the car was good and warm from driving?

Well, that's the thing, I left it open quite some time and no liquid came out, I guess it should'nt be any different than bleeding brakes?

that would mean your radiator is clogged or there was no fluid in it at all. If clogged take out the radiator take it to a service shop and have them clean out the inside to get out the corrosion....

well, I checked it and the fluid seemed full, I had my thermostat changed by a garage in november and they said that they change my radiator fluid, so being cloged kind of seems feasable at this point.

I work on cars aside from my daily job. How old is the car. If it is more than 5 or so years old pull it out and take it to a radiator shop to have it cleaned

oh yeah, alot older than 5 years old, it's a 94 that has been very poorly kept up. So that's why I would'nt be surprised if it needed a little tlc

It cost me about $35.00 for my truck radiator to get cleaned. It is quick and cheap as long as you take it out yourself.
