engine rebuild?

engine rebuild?
I have a 94 Z28 with 140k miles on it. I want to do a cam swap but i wonder if I should rebuild my motor first. I feel it getting tired, and I know my lifters are weak. My compression is fine while running and cranking, but I do have some leakdown. I can not afford to fully build a motor right now, so if I did rebuild it, I would want to do it as cheap as possible. Would it be worth it just to disassemble the motor and put new bearings/rings in, or would I have to replace parts and do some machining to it? Also where do you guys get your parts from?

Well look at it this way. There have been a lot of posts about guys spinning their bearings after a cam swap. A lot of them are motors with high mileage. Soooooo......if you do the swap with 140 on it, odds are you'll probably junk your motor anyway. If I were you I'd wait and rebuild it, and while you're doing it throw in the cam.
