Engine setup help.....
I just got a 94 z28 with about 127000 miles and is completely stock except for K&N filter and Flowmaster muffler (I'm sure these probably don't matter). I was wondering if it would be wise to dive into the motor? If it is ok then can anyone give some advice on what to do. I pretty much just want a cam that'll hit and sound good and have a bad *** street car. I'm really not gunna race it just every once in a while a the track when I've got things to settle with friends . Also if it is possible I would like to stay around 13 mpg (I get 20 now). Thanks.

Well, before you start thinking cam, it would probably be a better choice to think about doing the exhaust system first. A systematic approach would be much more productive and show the gains better and more accurately. Exhaust system to free up some space for the expended gases to go out, some 1.6 rockers to get some more air in, then a cam to turn things up a bit. When doing the cam, it would probably be a good idea to replace the lifters and double check the pushrods also. At 127 it's 50/50 on if the car takes a dump. Do you have any history of it or any idea of how well it was maintained??

I already know that I'm getting Hooker LTs and true duals thats why I didn't ask about that. The car from what I can tell has been very well maintained. The guy before me kept complete records from the time the car was bought new on everything he ever did to it. I am just the second owner of the car.
