Engine shake?

How much does your engine shake?....i have new motor mounts and a complete overhaul on a Hot cam Kit, LT's, tuning everything basically except for Ported heads.....and it runs great...just at idle the engine has an intermitent shake. What is it?..thanks Tony

Could be misfire...sometimes it's not noticeable unless at lower RPM's. If you've got PolyU motor mounts they may cause a little more vibration as well.

I think my idle is a bit too low..could that be it?....Its an A4 and the RPM's are marking like between 700-800..isn't that a little low for a cam?...

It depends on what they programmed it at. That does seem a little low for a cam though. I'd check with your tuner.

Misfire could easily cause a shake... but I agree that those numbers are low for idle.

You mentioned that you installed the LT4 Hot Cam. On mine, I just re-adjusted the valves and noticed that the back side of a few rockers were "dished" that the pushrod created a groove or another pocket. This is causing an infrequent jolt at idle as the timing of that valve/cylinder is changing due to the angle of the pushrod to rocker arm geometry.

Could be programming (which should be done with a cam install). Could be misfire (probably ignition).
Could be mechanical (in my case it was bad rockers)

Good luck.
