Engine shuts off when hot, help?
Hey guys, now that summer is here my car has been acting weird lately. At cold start the car would run fine but when the engine gets warmed up and the temp gauge is at around half way my camaro turns off. Sometimes when at idle or driving slow the car would stumble, the rpm would pick back up then the check engine light would come on and stay on until the car is turned off and re started. Another thing that would happened is after refueling when im about to pull out the gas station the car would shut off. lately when the check engine light is tripped the abs inop light would come on and the low coolant warning light would come on too. Im puzzled by this because it just started happening since temps where i live have climbed to the 90s and 100s. Im thinking low oil pressure sensor?, oil pump?, Opti-spark(Not sure if what im experiencing is an opti going out) or some other sensor. Im pretty sure its not the fuel pump.

Check the ignition control module first. It sounds like you have a few different issues going on. The ignition control module is most likely what would cause your car to die out.

Had a fuel pump that was going bad. Car only died when the temp was over 80. Would start up after a few minutes of sitting, until the last time. You should check the fuel pressure if you have a gauge. I was able to drive around with it taped on the windshield and if it died, I could tell if the pressure was right.

Re: Engine shuts off when hot, help?
Im thinking its the ICM because the car only shuts off after approximately driving 30 minutes in this 100 degree weather...it did not do this at all back when i bought it in spring. So its obviously heat related and i think its the ICM cutting out after it reaches a certain temp. Ive driven the car these past few days in the heat and it shuts off after a certain time everytime. Anyone know where to get a cheap GM ICM? Also is the ICM for a 95 z28 year specific..can i use one from a 1996?

Re: Engine shuts off when hot, help?
I relocated my to help with the heat soak. I only recommend going OEM on this part. I replaced mine and it turns out that it was good. Now I have a spare and can check if one on the car looks bad.
