Re: exhaust popping?
well, if u dont ahve cats, thats creating alot more free flow, which causes more backpressue if the system is big enough. I ahve my cats on the car and sometimes i get the pop b/c after the cat i have an s bend thats 3 inches wide with a 18" long 3" wide bullet race muffler with just a turn down after that right about where the rear seat is. way too much backpressue but it sounds mean

Re: exhaust popping?
Heres my take on this. I have a no cat car with 40's series and dumps before the axl, and everytime i let off the gas and not trying to cover the sound with the accelerator it pop/gargles like its blowin fuel bubbles out of my tail pipe. I've been told its normal by many a folk but,
the thing that got me to believe it was this, a fairly new Z06 with exhuast poped like crazy on decel with cats, and my buddys truck, which has cats to straight pipes ( no muffler) sounds like black cats go off in the pipe every now and then.
If you are running no cats the sound is going to be much more apparent in and out of the car. Seeing as my car use to do this ever so slightly bone stock, im not suprised when opened up it sounds a B2 bomber blowing stuff up down the road. I've heard putting a cam in the car will eliminate this but, I'm just going to put a new engine when the time comes for some real HP.
Sorry for the long post but I think it should give you the answers your lookin for. If not sorry to have waisted your 2 minutes
