Exhaust recommendation?

I didn't get a reply in the other section I had this posted in, so perhaps someone here will have a recommendation.

This is research for a future '97 Camaro Z28 I'd like to get...

What exhaust will give the LT1 a nice smooth humming, bellowing sound at idle, but give it a nice bark when revved?

Similar to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuiH4zPCONU
and this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOLIILA5rFk&NR=1

The idle sound I would like is similar to what our 35th Anniversary SS sounds like at idle. If you don't have a subwoofer, you won't hear much in the video, which won't be accurate. Same goes for the above videos I suppose.

So what exhausts are out there, that will get me the sound I want? Most guys around here have cut outs or very raspy/huffing exhausts at idle, and I don't want that for mine. I want a nice, high quality moderately loud hum, with a bit of bite to it when revved and driven, just like the Maserati above.

Any recommendations?

If you have aftermarket exhaust, and your car sounds NOTHING LIKE what I'm wanting, please reply with what you have, so I know that I don't need to consider it. I already know SLP Loudmouth isn't what I am wanting.

I can't get to your YouTube videos (nor do I have a subwoofer), but I have a sound clip from my Corsa catback posted on my FQuick garage (see the link under my avatar).

Corsa sounds similar to what I'm wanting, but an LS1 sounds completely different from an LT1, so I'll have to check that out.

Here's a vid I found:

Sounds pretty nice, but the bark doesn't seem the sound I am looking for, and idle seems like it might be a little too quiet.

Let's hear some more suggestions!

The Hooker and Magnaflow are are fairly quiet at idle and cruise, with no drone. However, when you put your foot down, they will sound off. The Magnaflow is stainless.

I use Hooker Aero chamber muffler and like it..... Nice tone at idle and highway speeds.. Full throttle it rumbles..

+2 on the Hooker. I've had it when I was stock, then cammed, and now with the 383. Love it, love it, love it.

I know you guys are trying to help, but you're not helping! I can't just take your word for it, I need to hear videos of your cars if they actually do sound similar to what I'm going for.

Here's a link for some of the exhausts out there:

http://www.geocities.com/camarosound...enexhaust.html

I've had the stock system, a Corsa, a Hooker catback, a flowmaster catback, a buddy had the Borla and my wife's car had a random technologies catback.

Hands down, the Corsa sounds best. No resonance like the flowmaster and the hooker, no tractor sounds like wide open Borla. Remember, though, these are all opinions...people are going to say I'm an idiot, the flowmaster is the best, etc, etc.

Thanks for the link!

Researching this can be kind of difficult, because just like that site demonstrates with the first car being a stroker and the 2nd having the Vortech supercharger--if I don't have those mods, there's a high likelihood that the car won't sound like that.

The car I'd have would be mostly all show, and stock besides the exhaust and possibly the headers. It would definitely have the catalytic converters (not gutted), O2 sensors, and all the other emissions compliant equipment too.

Thanks to your help, I can definitely scratch Random Tech exhaust and Mac exhaust off the possible list.

The Mufflex sounds alright, but I would want to reuse the stock rectangle tips, and those won't fit a 4 inch exhaust I don't believe. It looks single exit as well.

Here's some stuff I found myself by downloading sounds and videos of LT1 cars on http://www.ls1sounds.com

http://www.ls1sounds.com/edelbrock/e..._LT1-96Z28.wmv This is edelbrock exhaust, and definitely is off the list...

Flowmaster is off the list--completely wrong sound at idle and rev

GMMG sounds good, but isn't what I'm looking for. Too much burbling.

Hooker is too deep of a sound, too consistently low of a sound.

Magnaflow sounds good, but again, isn't at all close to what I am wanting.

Randomtech sounds decent at idle, but when revved it sounds like a zipper being zipped fast.

SLP 2otl sounds interesting, but I've never ever heard of 2otl...

SLP Loudmouth and Loudmouth 2 are definitely not what I'm wanting.

The search goes on... Corsa so far sounds the closest.
