Re: exhaust. what do these word mean?

MFI= multiport fuel injection, i think

VIN "P" is the engine code for the 5.7L

Notice the other VIN codes for the other engines on the first exhaust system

Sometimes the pictures they use arent for that application. That second exhaust looks like it would fit a 1st or 2nd gen fbody. youre going to only need one catalytic converter for your basic catback system. the first picture is what would fit any 4th gen LT1 fbody.

Yeah, that bottom picture is wrong. The 15620 system should look just like the top one (I checked another website).

1st gen. = 1967-1969
2nd gen = 1970-1981
3rd gen = 1982-1992
4th gen = 1993-2002
5th gen = 2009+

You should already have a catalytic converter on your car. so when you buy a catback system it replaces everything from the catalytic converter back to the tips. That little annoying hump in the front passenger side floor is where the cat is on the exhaust system. Look under your car to see if its there. If you dont have emissions testing in your county/state then if its not there dont worry about it but you could remove it. If you do have emissions you can buy a hi flow cat or gut it. If you have anymore questions just ask, thats what this sites for.

EDIT: Check out Wikipedia.org you can learn alot about fbodies and all the generations and motors that were on them. Actually found out that the LT5 was co designed by Lotus.

Re: exhaust. what do these word mean?

Yes that is the converter. 93 to 96 had only 1. 97 is the first year they put 2 on. all you need to buy is the cat-back exhaust kit and that will replace everything behind the converter.

and im not really sure what it does..it takes some harmful chemical out of the exhaust gasses or something like that.............really all its doing is restricting your exhaust flow and cutting power...cut that jank outta there

Nope, California emissions 1995 automatics have 2 cats and all 96-97s have them. Any restriction from the LT1 cat is not all that bad.
