Fans and Hypertech Chip
93 Z28 - Just put in a 160 thermostat and Hypertech Thermomaster chip. One of my fans does not look like it is coming on. Should both fans kick on at the same time with this? Or does one kick on at a lower temp and the other helps out when the temp gets higher? I did test the fan by using probes to connect it directly to the battery and it is good. I thought that with the 93's both fans were supposed to work at the same time, so I'm not sure if the chip is doing this or if I have some other problem. Thanks.

The primary fan kicks on at a lower temperature and the secondary fan kicks off at a higher temperature. If you got a chip installed it's mostly likely set to trigger at 160 or 170 to coincide with the new stat.
Did you get a custom chip made by MadZ28 or PCMforless or did you get a Hypertech one?

Fans on the 93 are like this:
(quoting myself )
(quoting myself )
1993-1994 - Primary and Secondary fans that operate at only one speed. When initially commanded on, only the primary fan (driver side) comes on. It operates alone at a relatively high speed. If the temp threshold is met for addtional cooling, the secondary fan (passenger side) also is commanded on. At this point, both fans are running at a relatively high speed.
