Feeling Dum but......Oil Change Ques...

I'm preparing to get my ride out of hibernation finally.
Ever since I've had the car I have got the oil changed at a quick change place with Mobil1 Syn.
This year money is tighter than a.........well it's tight.......

I want to use the long filter instead of the short one I've always had on.
Can someone outfit me with a part# so as I don't go and put the wrong oil filter on.........

Also, (this is the part where I feel dum)
How much oil does an LT1 take?
Having never done the oil changes myself, I looked in the owners manual but........it didn't say.....or I couldn't find it and gave up.

Will having a longer filter make a difference in the amount of oil needed?

I appriciate any help with this very mundane matter...........

It should be a little over 5 quarts. Just fill it with five, then check the level, fill it to full, run it, fill it up and you're golden.

Just did the ol' oil change this past weekend. 5 quarts of Mobil 1 Synthetic and a Mobil 1 filter (sorry no part number). I always milk the last drop of oil out of each container and have never needed anything over 5 quarts--then again, it never hurts to have an extra quart on hand. Plus, if you act now and buy 6 quarts of Mobil 1 you can get a free hat!!!

My apologies, I didn't notice your from canada eh? Well, then my good friend in the north, you will need 4.73176473 liters to do the job.

I don't know if you'll qualify for the free hat though.

the short filter has changed from a PF25 to a PF454. Not sure what the difference is. I think you can use a PF35 or a PF1218 also. May want to double check though.

Just an added thought for a fist timer, filling the oil above the full line can rob you of a small amount of power since the crank has to spin through more oil and more oil potentially gets slung all over the other moving parts which marginally adds to their reciprocating mass.
You don't have to stress about a little overfill, just don't assume there is any benifit to an extra high oil level.

With a stock filter my 97 takes 4.5 quarts, not sure what that is in Canadian speak Only with the oversized PF35 filter will mine take 5. Get a set of Rhino ramps and do it yourself if money is tight, I change the oil with Mobil 1 and PF35 filter myself for less than any quickie place around here will do with some cheap dino oil.
