few repair questions

want to get my z28 back up and running. How hard is it to replace the oil pump? Also there's a slight oil leak in the front of the engine, going to probably replace all the seals in the front, water pump, opti, crank etc. How difficult will these things be to replace? I have done some simple stuff to the car, LS1 >brake< swap, replaced the radiator. I just don't want to get started and get stuck on something, my main concern is the oil pump, is it difficult with hand tools? I dont have any air powered stuff.

Just to clarify, you mean the brake swap in your sig right?

The front seals aren't that hard to do, but you will need a couple special tools, like a seal puller, seal installer, a puller for the hub, and a special installer for the hub.

You will have to completely pull the pan to do the oil pump, and that is going to require you to drop the k-member down.

It will be somewhat difficult to do. You'll probably need to lift the engine slightly to remove the oil pan. Aside from a hoist and a balancer puller normal hand tools is all you will need.
Do you have a manual for the car? GM or Haynes, etc.....

yeah I found my manual, it's a Haynes. Found a thread on here about replacing the oil pump.
So looks like I'll jack up the car, secure it on jackstands, then jack up the engine and loosen the bolts to the k-member slightly so I can get some clearance to pull the pan? looks easy enough.
I dont have an engine hoist, would it just be better to get one?

the hub puller/installer tools, is that something I can rent from lets say Autozone?

Oh yeah and I mean LS1 BRAKE swap, makes a biggg difference huh.

just tired of having her sit in the garage, want it to be up and running with some nice things like your cars.

I ended replacing a couple of extra things also. Its hard to put a high mileage part back in and then replace it 6 months later when you were right there. I ended up needed a couple more parts and needed to order them so if it can sit a while this will help.

Did your oil pump go clear out?
If you are not lucky, you may replace the oil pump just to learn your engine blowed up.
