Finally fixed my car....or thought it was fixed!

Well I find out what was wrong with the car! I had a friend look at it for me and he got it to run.....Sounds Awesome too.....besides the knock in the motor now! Well I guess i took a chance when it went down..in just fixing the top end but the bottom end i guess got some shavings down in it and spun the bearings......Wonder how much turning the crank and new bearings would cost at a shop if i brought them the short block.....The reason it wouldn't crank before was because my opti was in wrong? Don't know how i did that one but i some how did....Well I guess that I have to pull the motor now and it's raining like crazy out side........The reason it broke the first time though was because when i did my cam swap the first time i had to use one of the stock pushrods because i bent one of the other pushrods by it being to loose and slung out the pushrod out of the rockerarm and bent it to a 90 degree boomerang......used one of the stock pushrods and it didn't like the guideplates that i used....well it ate up the pushrod and all of the shavings fell ontop of the short block....well the only thing that i can figure what happened was the shavings fell inbetween the lifters and the plates that hold the lifters striaght......well the plate bent the spider thing that holds them down and the plate jumped up......the lifter inturn starts spinning and starts hitting the cam....puts a couple of good quarter size dents in the cam....so i replace the cam and all of the valve train.....taking a chance on the shortblock being ok....because i just had it rebuilt 6k miles ago.....well guess not...should have check it the first time i suppose....My luck is *****TY this month!

Don't really know how to respond to that one, but good luck

I hate to say this, but you seem like the kind of person that needs to take a little more time when doing stuff. :blah:

With that much damage, you may want to consider a short block purchase.

I think that all that is wrong with it is the crank needs resurfaced because it may have some flat spots and maybe have the rods rebuilt.....if needed....and replace the bearings.....it shouldn't cost that much....75 bucks for resurfacing the crank and 12 bucks a piece for each rod.....might just order some new rods and be done with it....

Did you spin a bearing before your last rebuild? How bad is the knock? I mean can you barely hear it or is it scary loud?

Yeah i guess it's been spun since the lifter incident....just didn't know it because the car wasn't able to start......fixed the top end hoping it would fix everything and then the tapping starts.....it's not scary loud...you can't hear it if i take my cutout open but with it shut you can.....

I meant your last bottom end rebuild, sometimes a reconditioned rod isn't what it should be.

I just wondered about the noise(s) your hearing fron the engine since these camed, roller rocker, M6 cars are kinda noisy even when healthy. My ED timing set makes noises I don't like. I think its the w.p. drive.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck dude.
