Finally going to the tracks!!!
im finally gonna make some time to take it out to the tracks next month. that means i have to get it ready. mods are still the same except for some nitto dr's. im going to order sfc's tomorrow.
i was getting 5* of knock retard under wot and anywhere from 0-5 when driving or idling. i bought some 105 unleaded today to check if it was real knock. my tank was empty so i put 2 1/2 gallons. drove it around. first wot run had 2.4* kr. second had 3.4*. and third had 5*. so i know its false.
im gonna send the pcm back to bryan at pcm4less and eliminate the knock sensor. i also want to do something about the gas mileage. i get about 6-8 mpg in the city and 13 highway. thats horrible. thats one of the reasons why i dont drive it that much. i dont know if its in the tune or not but im gonna mention it to bryan. or should i send it to someone else like madwolf or ed wright?
what else should i do to it before i take it? i cant think of anything that i need. also what psi should i set the tires at and how should i launch?
just for fun, any guesses on what i'll run?
thanks you all in advance.

Re: Finally going to the tracks!!!
thats pretty close to the setup i will be running i did have that cam but decided to go bigger, my guess for et.... if its tuned, it should go 11's.... ill say 11.8 at 112.
as for the nittos do a good 10 second burnout (avoid the waterbox) and launch as high as your stall will hold. ive had the best luck with between 17 and 23 psi in the nittos.
good luck.

Re: Finally going to the tracks!!!
With Madwolf's base tune on my 383 I am seeing 13mpg in the city getting on it alot, and 18.5 on the hwy with the cruise set at 80 with the occasional 'leap frog'. Not to mention my cam is significantly bigger than yours. But your 3000 stall sure isn't going to improve gas mileage.

Re: Finally going to the tracks!!!
I have a madwolf tune on my 383 also and it gets bout 13 mpg so far street drivenig. but Ive doin alot of warm up time before i leave, to make sure the eng.'s not cold while driving while Im still breaking it in. my cams bigger then yours too. so you should be geting alot better gas mileage out of it then that. Id saymore like low 12's at about the same MPH as the last guy. if you havent already done it, remove the front sway bar to help better plant the rear tires. when I had nitto DRs and 3000 stall on my Iroc, I would manually put trans in 1st, floor the gas, shift into sec. before rev. limiter, and then hold that for about 2-3 sec.s then roll out of the burnout letting off after its moving. maybe bout 5-7 sec.s total if that. I was getting 1.7x sixty'sconsistently and at that time, turning in 12.8 -12.7 time slips. but you have alot more torque then my Iroc was making so you'll prolly have a harder time hooking up then I did. almost no tire spinon the above times. let us know what the time is!

Re: Finally going to the tracks!!!
i called bryan at pcm4less and he told me that i needed to scan my car and send him the logs. that's the only way he could know what's going on with it and properly tune it. what exactly do i need to scan my car? or should i just try to get it dynotuned? where do i go for that in southern california?
