Finally!..My cam specs are in!...BUT, is this too big?
My first 383 cam was the 503 from comp: 224-230 112 LSA with AFR 195 LT4 "race ready" heads. Flow 260 cfm @28 inches of water. This combo made 370 rear wheel with A4. I'm still using the A4.
My builder called me and said my 383 will be done next week!
The new cam specs is as follows:
Custom Grind Comp Cams Roller
.637 Intake and .647 exhaust; lift with 1.6 rockers
Duration @.50 266-272; ADV 310-322
106 LSA
Heads: AFR 210 LT4 w/2.08-1.60 valves professionally ported and assembled with K-Motion springs. Flowed 313 cfm @28 inches of water at Westech Performance in Mira Loma, CA

im ight be a little on the overkill side, but some people's definition of streetable varies from town to town.
my personal opinion, find a cam that you have to tune the **** out of and still won't idle, then back it down just one step
that cam in today's standards of solid rollers isn't too large by any means...people will still argue that a cam with 550 lift on both sides is a large cam, but i hate to tell them that they are dead wrong. i've been witness to too many solid rollers with ~700 lift on both sides and durations in the 260's on both sides that get put on the street every week. it just comes down to how much driving comfort that you want...personally, i like the feeling of driving a race car everyday...the gas price is the only that put mine in the garage.
so in short, shove that bump stick in it's tiny little hole and drive it like a ****.
i've dealt with the guys at comp quite a bit, and they are very knowledgable, so you shouldn't have any trouble...looks like a good fit to those heads too

Can you say rumpity, rump When you say daily driver what do you mean? Do you drive 30 miles round trip everyday with it or are you just talking you drive it on the street a couple times a week?

Ask them if they know of anyone else with this combo and then check it out.
Afterall they are the ones who recommended it, so they must have something besides a calculation to suppport their recommendation.
With those heads, etc. you are looking a mean machine, but if the cam does not work well for your intentions, you may not just be wasting money, but you might be looking at a broken motor----every machine ever made is subject to breaking given the right circumstances.JMHO

i don't like the idea with that cam.....if i'm not mistaken that an off the shelf grind too.....and looking at those lobes, they're pretty damn agressive. it's a big cam too daily drive, i won't argue that, but if it's a weekend car that sees some strip time, where i'm from, that is by no means too big.....it's acctualy kinda average for a non-daily driven car

106 lob centers... and 310+ adv dur?? i personally think you will make no power until 3000+rpm and peak power around 7000+
but it will sound wicked...
keep in mind the gm pcm will not do over 7000RPM
