First mod? headers/convertor?

Okay, so my '97 Formula is bone stock, what do you think should be my first mod? LT's with a cat-back, or a converter with shift kit and cooler?

A WS6 hood and airbox, and 3.73's will be ordered around the same time.

Re: First mod? headers/convertor?

My opinion..this is what the first step would be....

CAI
CatBack
Headers
SFC's

Next Step you might wanna think about....

shift kit & cooler
cam & gears

Okay, well the CAI will be with the hood, so I guess it would be best to do Headers & catback. I really need the sound too. As of the present I'm not too worried about SFC's because its a hardtop, and allready rides leaps and bounds better than my old t-top car.

Re: First mod? headers/convertor?

why did your t-top car ride so bad?

If it were me I'd get some drag radials or BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD's. Because even stock my tires would peal out, I had to ease into it a little. Then everything after that you'll be able to transfer more of it to the ground.

Re: First mod? headers/convertor?

The t-top car rattled and made every noise you could think of. I wanted to do sfc's on it, but didnt get the chance. I'm not sure if they will make a big difference in my hardtop though.....anyone have before/after experience with SFC's and a hardtop?

Re: First mod? headers/convertor?

I would go with the stall converter, shift kit and cooler 1st.

What size stall would you go on a stock?

I have a '93 Z hardtop with 96,000 miles. I run 12.0 @ 112 MPH with a 1.67 60 ft. time WITHOUT connectors The car gets hammered hard and has been in the 12's for 3 years now.
Wanna see how it launches with a stock suspension and no connectors?
