Nice gains. Like previously stated, the stock exhaust manifolds are very restrictive in the higher rpm's, and you now having 1.7's, you want to optimize that. Keep us updated as not many people start with 1.7's rr and a cut-out as their baseline. It will be rather interesting to see how your gains improve from here.

Goodluck!

LOL what are you talking about? You act like I stuck a cam in my car and ran a 13.8 Slow shifting? lmao. The track conditions were bad, they do not prep the track on wednesday nights. It was hard to even hook in second gear. What are your mods and what do you run?

93 TA A4. 14.0 at 97 flat humid weather 2.1 60 foot time. Magnaflow quiet muffler w/ 3 inch tips.(not the muffler from the magnaflow catback). New opti. Thats it. I was rude before about the shifting thing. Sorry. But I would just make sure that the car is tip top shape. I had a 97 formula before this. Bone stock hesitating down the track after 4thousand rpm's w/ speaker in the back 6 speed went 13.9@101. After that I got MSD, 4.10 gears and Cold air and I went 13.4 at 105. still hesitating

The car is in tip top shape. It runs great. Our tracks suck and the DA was 2700 ft. I am sure you have much better conditions where you are from. I am in az and just last week it was still 108 degrees out here. I went the other night because a cold front hit us and we got some alright weather. When it cools down and I go to a prepped track I guarantee the car will go 105 as it sits.

People are.

You need to get those 60' times squared away before the improvements really show.

On the broken rear end thing auto-vs-manual. If you're wanting to keep the rear alive, getting a rear end girdle will help. That and using a line-lock instead of the drop-and-step approach will help. Got a buddy of mine who's been turning low 11's with 60' in the 1.7 range for over a year now on the stock rear.

Not meaning to hijack, but HOW would you use the line lock on the starting line??? I may have to try that!

I hold the linelock so I don't roll off the beams, then I rev up to 4500 rpm and start to let the clutch out. This preloads the driveline. Then when the lights go, just release the linelock, let off the clutch, and mash te gas ... all at the same time

108 degrees?!? Dude, I live in tucson which is almost always 2-3 degrees cooler than phoenix/mesa, and it hasn't been anywhere even near 100 hear. I was in phoenix just last week and it was 93 at the hottest part of the day. Being that as it is, the DA probably wasn't 2700. I went to our track out hear a couple weeks back and ran a 14.2 with the mods in my sig, but it was at a DA of 7400. Now thats bad.

But if the DA was only 2700 ft, I bet a good bit of your gains were from that, and not completely from your mods. Don't mean to be rude, but it just seems wierd to me.

Re: First runs with Scorpion 1.7rr's

Kinda off subject, but I allways liked the uphill drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff. In the fall youwould go from 90s to 70s in 100 miles....lol

But that was years ago when I was stationed at Yuma.

I said last week we had a high of 108 degrees! That said it was still 2700ft. The day I ran we had a high of 90 due to a cold front. Temp was 75 degrees when I made my runs. Altitude of the track is 1300 ft. Pressure was 29.91. Go ahead and put that into a calculator and see what you get.

103 mph is very good for what you have got. 110-112mph is a lofty goal for bolt ons only though. Headers,4.10s,CAI,cutout and DRs got me 13.3@106mph a few years ago.

when are you goin' back to Firebird? Early December for me.
