Exclamation First runs at the track with the XE 227/233 cam --- please help me out guys!

http://users.zoominternet.net/~sc93/timeslipsapr18.jpg

those slips show my best 60', best trap speed, then best ET

The weather was VERY hot, about 85-90 degrees F. Driving directly into a strong wind. Those factors probably didn't help out

The 19 second run was a missed shift Went from 1st into 3rd, smacked myself, then popped it into 4th and coasted the rest of the way The 60' was good on that one considering my tires.

The mod list:

comp xe 227/233 .560/.569 112LSA cam
comp pro mag 1.6 full rollers
EX .600 valvesprings (single coil)
EX hardened pushrods w/ guideplates
Art Carr competition 700r4 with all the goodies
Art Carr 9.5" 2800-3000 stall converter
Art Carr reverse pattern manual valvebody
SLP cold air intake
SLP Loudmouth 3" exhaust
Arizona Speed and Marine 1.75" primary midlength headers
Stock single cat
1LE intake elbow
1LE A/C delete pulley
Steve Spohn LCA's with relocation brackets
Eibach sportlines (~1.5" drop on all 4)
crappy all season 245/50/16 tires
B&M stacked plate tranny cooler

Weight Savings / free mods:

!A/C
!AIR
!EGR
!spare tire
!jack
!A/C condenser

I know this car can get much better than what it did. I just need to find the power. Any suggestions?

To compare, an 02 WS6 with Lid and Loudmouth, full suspension was running 13.85, my buddy with a 3.8 turbo regal who had several 11.20 @ 120 mph timeslips from last week was running 12.4's.....

I'm also leaking oil from somewhere, can't pinpoint it - it seems to be coming from above the starter.. leaking onto my Y-Pipe. Shouldn't be the infamous intake manifold, I put new gaskets and lots of RTV on it when I reassembled it

Also, I am hearing a rattle (metal) from under the car near the cat/y pipe area. Not sure what that could be...

Seems like your car is lacking top end comparing your 1/8 and 1/4 miles traps. Where are you shifting at?

Ouch, the 1/4 and 1/8 traps are off. The 60s arent bad enough for that kind of low mph. You were saying your friends cars were also running prety bad?

Actually its the opposite of that, if you have a really good 60 foot time your MPH goes down not up and vice versa.

I had the same problem. It's your stock catalytic converter, mine turned to crap too and made a little rattling noise at idle. I replaced mine with a Hi-Flo cat and i instantly got back the 20HP it was stealing and added another 10-15 onto it. Not to mention, it also stopped the shifting problems i was having with the electric tranny, shifting too late and pulling too hard to compensate for the added stress.

Replace the cat, and with all the **** you added im surprised you didn't do that when you bought the headers.

I was shifting at around 6000 rpms (according to stock tach, which may or may not be accurate) - this is a 700R4 auto with the manual valvebody

It was tuned by Alvin at pcmforless.

I need to get an OBD1 cable and run a FreeScan or something on it to get better tune probably.

Yes. Yank it off, never look back.

Aside from that, get your car DYNO tuned. There's something up with your car, because my Z is running those times with just long tubes and a cai. Get it tuned and yank the cat off and enjoy at least a low 13 second timeslip.

I'm willing to bet that your cam is peaking around ~6200-6300 RPM's.....I would shift at around 6400-6500, but the only way to find out, is to go dyno!

Not to get off the topic but how did you buddy go from a 11.2 to a 12.4. Was he running the same amount of boost?

Hmm... I will probably replace the cat with a 3" magnaflow. Would that work? An ORP would be TOO loud for me. (headers and loudmouth )

There is nowhere around here I can get dyno tuned
