first track times with LE1

Just got back from State Capitol Raceway today

This is on bad street tires, granny shifting, 1200 rpm launch, and im a horrible horrible driver.

R/T .165
60' 2.173
1/4 13.104
mph 110.55 in 3rd gear

Dyno Hp 383
Dyno Tq 360

I made three runs, all were 13.1x and 109-110mph pretty much a result of my poor traction and babying the car off the line.

The car just plain scared me, how fast it was over my previous mods. It pulled so hard all the way to the rev limiter (6300-6500? couldnt tell with stock tach), It just kept pulling harder and harder I didnt even want to shift

Im amazed at how hard it pulls, and pretty happy with the MPH, but the 1/4 time is probably a full second behind where it should be if I had sticky tires

Lots more potential there. 12's are very easily in your future.

I am building a 355, LE2 heads and LE1.5 cam with ported intake and all bolt ons. Damn I cant wait.

Where do you live? Do you mean the SCR just outside of Baton Rouge? Your 1/4 miles times should drop significantly when you get the launch and 60' down.

Im running constant 13.0x at 109-110 mph with a 2.2 60ft, i know how it feels. Stickys, gears, and a tq converter are in my future

is the car tuned? also some gears would help your 1/4 mile times.

Says PCM4Less tune in his sig. If you're having problems hooking, gears are only gonna make that worse. However, once you get the hang of it, they will help a LOT. I'm assuming you don't have them since you crossed the line in 3rd!

No, i dont have gears, Im afraid of blowing my 10bolt

I was thinking about some ET Street Drag Radials, but I cant decide on some cheap 15" rims to put them on.

Im looking for something pretty cheap, anyone recommend Weld rims? What width should i be looking for in a rim 15 by ?

Wait till you get a gear and get that big hook, gonna have to change your panties.

I am hoping my LE setup will be around 390 RWHP or so plus I have the 4.10's. There is no way I can run stickies with the ten bolt so I am limited to street tires.

Before the big upgrade traction was a problem especially when the tires are cool, summer time was decent. I could light them up then get a decent hook with about a 2.1 60ft or so. I am really thinking that traction will be even more af a problem now so I might drop back to 3.73's and give them a shot. You better start doing some suspension upgrades too like tubular arms and relocation brackets.

Wrd's right about the suspension upgrades. The gears aren't the only reason that the 10 bolts break. You're probably gonna break it with stock gears if you run some 15" MT's. The cheapest way to go is to get some stock 16" z28 or TA wheels and use some nittos or MT's on those.

As mentioned, ET Streets will be more apt to blow your rearend then a set of gears will. You have alot more potential in your setup starting with improving your sixty foot times and maximizing your setup with better gears. Your dyno numbers look good.

Again, that will put a lot of stress on your stock rear and probably break it. Get some decent DR's first. Then if those are hooking nice, get some gears. OR just start saving now for a bigger rear end.

yep...fragged the hell out of my 10-bolt on DR's when my car was at the 340rwhp level, which is where the original poster is likely at.

Go with some LCA and relocation brackets first. What are 1.75 in. control arms in your sig? Some SFC might help as well without adding much weight. Drop that front sway bar for the track and your 60' times really should drop and make it easier to hook.
