Fixing intake oil leak....

Tried the search ... pulled up too many random topics... from "oil leak" ... aparantly these cars have lots of oil leaking issues...

anyhow...When I pulled my tranny last...The intake mainifold was leaking badly in the rear... the rear end of block and tranny housing were drenched in it! All this time my Tranny was hidding that the leak. Would of never had known if I hadn't pulled the tranny...

Anyhow... does anyknow know of a step by step tech page for this? You do what now to fix this? Lay a bead of RTV sealant? Seems easy enough by looking...just want to make sure I properly remove everything that needs to be moved out the way...don't like surprises...

This has been a hell of a weekend...

1. Starter Crapped
2. Damaged Rim at drivethough
3. Found out There's a Hole Burnt into the A/C line from my battery!
4. had a bad msd Coil
5. 2 spark plugs crapped out..

Solution

1. cleaned and renewed
2. F34k it!
3. SCrew it it doesn't add HP
4. Thunderracing we go...
5. 20 bucks out my pocket

ahh ... I think I'm going to start a "Camaro Diary" ... of all the issues that I overcome with this car... this is like a bad marriage and I want a Divorce... I see Dodge in my future... thos SRT's look like fun... never seen one of them on the side of the road... (j/k)

1: Pull intake off
2: Lay down new intake gaskets
3: Connect the gaskets in the back and front of the motor with a fat bead of copper RTV
4: Set intake back on, bolt down, let dry 24 hours for best results
5: drive

Yea, my car has always leaked. When my car was in warranty, the dealer "fixed" my intake leak twice--now it still leaks, from the front and the back. I'm also going to be fixing mine this week. After searching some posts, I saw that it was recommeded to take a file and make some "X's" on the front and back of the surface of the block to help the RTV hold. Perhaps someone else can comment on this?? Also, it appears that Permatex's "The Right Stuff" is a great RTV to use--got mine from Napa.

I'll add in some between 1 & 2: Clean mating surfaces on intake and block. Also, "score" the intake and block where the RTV goes so the RTV has something to "grip" on.

Thunder Racing, Combination, parts stores,... I recommend Fel-Pro's.
