Flushing coolant passage

I had my water pump off, didnt remove the drain plugs, simply figured I would "cup" my hand over the water hose and flush it out from both sides. I had some water dripping out the steam pipe which I had removed for the TB bypass, 97 Z28.

Is it possible for water to get into the oil pan from doing this? I have got a small amount of clear water in the oil pan looks like 1/3 to 1/2 a cup from what I have drained so far. I cant imagine that with the hood closed water/rain has ran down the frony of the motor into the open holes of the timing cover? Feeling stupid right now!? for the second time.
