Foiled it up

Well I think this is my last bolt-on for the old Z28. I should have it back to the track in a couple weeks.

Make sure the lower part of the air foil is not blocking the idle air passage in the lower "triangle" between the throttle bores. There is a hole at the bottom (floor) surface that feeds the passage to the idle air stepper motor, and another small hole higher up that allows a small amount of air to go directly into the plenum. Block those and you can have issues with idle air control.

Dyno results for an air foil - not the same one you have in the photo::

Drivetrain Modifications #4

There is absolutely no way that anyone could possible feel a 2.4 peak HP gain, most of which only occurs above 5,500 RPM. If you feel it, it is the "placebo" effect.

No not really. If there was something i could not tell SOTP. Ive done some bolt-on mods since running the car early last May. I will take it back to the track in the near future and make comparisons and final thoughts.

Well the "Butt-o-Meter" is not a very accurate device and typically shows more gains=to whatever the bolt on part costs.

...but as noted any "documented" gain is very low (read next to nothing) and not something you would notice with the Butt-o-Meter

Track times on different days will also not be a valid comparison (DA, 60', etc) as conditions, car, driver are not the same as doing a pass then installing a part then doing a pass same day and even with that the times will vary more than any gain the foil may provide

Will the air foil hurt anything, no...but don't expect it alone will give you anything noticeable that you can feel or even measure on a dyno

Biggest concern of using a air foil if it does block the IAC passages then you will have drivability and idle issues. There are air foils that do have holes if yours does not

Re: Foiled it up

I’ll be certain to factor and compare the DA and the 60’ for my analysis from the last runs and the upcoming outing.
