Re: Forged 350 help

So simply going with .030 pistons with a stock crank isnt going to drop gas mileage that bad, is it?

Re: Forged 350 help

I believe the heads/cam have a much much much greater difference on mileage than the bottom end

It's your cam and gears that will slauter the Gas milage, 5 ci isn't going to change much.

Re: Forged 350 help

you do realize that when you build the bottom end you are planning what the motor is going to be used for correct? its not something you just rebuild then slap a turbo or super charger on later. you could i guess, but the result would be disappointing. you would end up with a low boosting POS. the cam, compression and heads all have to be right for boost.

i wont even coment on the ls1 front end portion

Re: Forged 350 help

edit: I believe I mis-read your post.

Like I said from the beginning, I'm going to either do a forged 355 w/ heads (afrs most likely) & obviously cam, with a PTK kit, or at least PTK hotparts and custom setup.

OR a Forged 383 with great internals (not scat, eagle) and low compression, and put the turbo on in a year or so.

I'm aware the 383 would be a dog until turboed, that's not a big deal. I'm most likely going to do this to another shortblock and not throw it in until I've got all of the parts.

And I don't need opinions on the LS1 front. I (the opinion that matters) feel that a Red LS1 WS6(7) is one of the sexiest vehicles ever created. I'm building this car to be my dream car. A Turbo V8 red WS7.
