Fuel injectors?

I have supposed aftermarket fuel injectors. and im running a mainly stock setup ( only exhaust and lil non major things) i have 4.11s but they are being changed to 3.42's and i want to know what size my injectors are(Lbs/Hr). They have a yellow top and look like the stock wit the purple inside and wires, but the yellow top is different from stock ones which are black.
If any one has information on this i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
Dan

Re: Fuel injectors?

Accel have yellow tops and the injector size is stamped on them(top side).. You might have to remove the electrical connector to see...

Re: Fuel injectors?

If your car is mostly stock, the stock fuel injectors (24 LBS) will support up to ~310 Crank HP. (The stock motor is about 275 crank HP). Larger fuel injectors should not hurt too much if they are not too much bigger and the PCM is programmed for the correct size.

Re: Fuel injectors?

24# injectors should support quite a bit more then 310 hp. Many people with head/cam packages making 350-380 rwhp are still running the stock injectors with no problems.

Re: Fuel injectors?

310 is a low estimate for the 24# injectors. If that were the case, than 90% of the people on this board would have had to change them by now. You can almost hit 310 crank HP with a CAI and exhaust.

Re: Fuel injectors?

What Joe is giving you is the result you get if you use the popular online injector sizing programs, which assume a brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) of 0.50 #/HR/HP, and you do not allow the injector duty cycle to exceed 80%. That is an extremely conservative basis, but it the basis used my many experienced shops. Yes, you can tune your engine for a lower BSFC (mine worked out to 0.46 running NA on an engine dyno), and you can "overwork" the injectors by driving them to 100% duty cycle at peak load, and produce upwards of 450 flywheelHP with 24# injectors. Whether that is a smart thing to do is open to debate. How do these people know that they wouldn't have got better dyno results without driving the injectors to the point where they are going to suffer from reduced flow capacity and erratic operation?
