fuel pump question

alright so when i turn my key on no crank what should my fuel pressure be when its done priming? i know idle is somewhere between 41-47 psi but when i prime mine it goes to about 10-15psi and the pump sounds really weak. i also have long crank times unless i prime it a few times.

forgot to mention that when i do prime it and it gets to 40 psi it will leak down at a pretty good fast rate. it leaks all the way down to 0 psi within 30 seconds.. normal with the airomotive fpr??

IMO, sounds to me like your fuel pump is shot.

could that be the cause of the fuel pressure loss after prime? bad check valve in pump? and do injectors leak tthat quick even if they were leaking??

If your fuel injectors was leaking that much fuel, it would be quite rich on start up id imagin, black smoke blowing out rich.

How many times do you have to prime it to get it to 40psi?

Does it stay at about 36-38psi at idle when it finally starts? Will only run 41-47psi at idle with the vacuum compensation line off.

The Aeromotive LT1 AFPR's have shown an excessively high failure rate.

Sure sounds like a fuel pump issue. I'd try a new fuel filter first, just in case.

i have to prime it 3 times to get it to 40 psi.

at idle with vacuum line hooked up it hangs around 40 psi and with it removed it will jump to about 44-45.

this afpr came off my parts car which was a 94 auto z28 and it was running fine with it on. never threw a gauge on it but woudnt assume it be running to rich.
