Gains from ThrottleBody?
I was looking around for my next mod and was thinking about doing a 160 stat because i already have tuning for it, and a 52MM throttlebody because if from what i have learned, our intake manifolds size is 52MM and you cant go higher with out boreing it out. My questions are, how much power is to be gained from a throttlebody and is it better to go with an aftermarket one or get your old one bored out??? Any imput much appreciated.

I think you would be better off doing some headwork before doing the throttle body. Also, some drag radials or ET Streets will help get your sixty foot down. A 52mm throttle body didn't do squat for me.

the topic of the tb is HIGHLY debated. most guys argue that there are no gains and that the stocker is sufficent up to 450hp.
that being said. i don't see how it could hurt your performance. the big issue most guys have is that the small gain, probaby around 5hp is really worth the $300+ price tag.
it can't hurt to have less restiction for the air going into your engine.
Brent Franker did a nice writeup on his webpage about boring out his intake to accept a 58mm tb. he argues that although it may not be neccessary it also can't hurt. he said he noticed a nice increase in throttle response as well as some other gains if i remember correctly.
personally, i don't think it's worth the price of an aftermarket for the minimal gains (unless you had SC or h/c). but i think it would be well worth it if you got your stock bored. there is a guy on the board that does it for $165 i think (NOMAD), which is after a core charge. and there is also a company on ebay that sells bored TB's for about $160 (depending on the bids of course). the ebay auction doesn't require a core, and if you send your stocker to them they'll give you $40.
i'm sure all of us have bought something for $150 that only gains us 5-10 hp...

i concur.
I was discussing this with my mustang buddy..
When ford went from the 5.0 to the 4.6 they did a number or upgrades including a properly sized TB. For some reason, people are still buying bigger throttle bodies.
People seem to be under this "if its stock it must need replacing and it must be restrictive" mentality.
Our throttle bodies are more than adequatly sized.
just my 2 coins
