Gas Question (not price related lol)

ok, so I was driving about 300km today for work, and I skipped a service station because the next one was 100km away and i was at a half a tank, welllll next thing i knwo i'm in rush hour traffic, and the gas gauge creeps down to be right exactly on the red line, at thi spoint i pulled off and filled the car up. Now the tanks are supposed to be 70L in thee cars, I pumped 56L and it was full, whats up with that??? 14L of reserve?

Liters? talk in English man, we use gallons down here. The tank I believe is 16 Gallons and I think its about one gallon in reserve after the line. The gauges on these cars are notorious for being off a little as well, so never go by the gauge. I always keep track of how many miles Ive driven on each tank and fill up at about 200 miles.

The gas tank sits at an angle...think of the tank as "V shaped", so as the tank drains the level drops quicker at the bottom. My car has always had approximately 10 gallons for the top half of the gauge and 5 gallons for the bottom half of the gauge.

The problem with the gauge is over time the "range shifts", new cars go from Full to Empty, as the gauge "ages", the gauge goes past Full and is empty before the needle gets to "E".

Stock tank is 15.5 US Gallons.

15.5 X 3.78 liters/USG = 58.6 liters

You got lucky it didn't run dry and destroy the fuel pump.

oh a review I read said its 70L so that explains things then, daaaaaamn i got really lucky! see i had fliled up before on a 1/4 tank and it was only about 50L so i thought i still had 20L to go on 1/4 of a tank so i wasnt overly concerned about running on empty.

eeeek i'll have to be more careful from now on. It had about 240 miles on it when i filled up.

i think i'm just going to start filling it up as soon as it gets to half a tank, then i'll be safe that way.
