gauges

Re: gauges
i don't know whether or not there is a specific low oil psi light. i think it's just a check gauges lamp that comes on. there is a low oil level light, but i don't think you want that one. however, your cluster illumination is pin C3 grey wire. behind the cluster. you could run your lights off of any other power wire that gets power when the headlights or park lights come on

Re: gauges
To install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge or a coolant temp gauge, you have to install a new sensor - the one that comes with the gauge. You don't just tap into your existing sensors. They are simple resistance devices, and attaching a second device to the sensor along with the existing device will throw the gauge reading off for both gauges.
For the oil pressure, there's a port with a pipe plug in it right above the oil filter. You hook your pressure sensor up there, run one wire from the sensor to ground and the other wire to the gauge. Ditto with the coolant temp sensor. The stock gauge uses a sensor in the driver's side head, between #1 and #3 plugs. There is a corresponding port in the passenger side head, between #6 and #8, with a pipe plug in it. You put the new sensor there.

Re: gauges
Ya im going to install the pressure sensor that came with the kit. So the c3 grey wire is it the one connected to the headlight switch. or could i splice the two white wires going into the dimmer switch? thanks

Re: gauges
Are you asking where to get ower for the light in the gauges? I hooked into the connector for the headlight switch. You also need power for the gauge itself. I tapped into the "IGN" spade lug in the fuse block. This is "switched" 12V so the gauge only works when the key is on.
You can also tap into the instrument panel dimmer rheostat. That is shown in the diagram below.
Shoebox has the headlight switch wiring diagram for a 95 Z28:

Fuse box hookup for switched power (this is my Firebird, and the Firebird fuse panel is "upside down" compared to the Camro panel):

The orange wire has a 1/4" female spade lug that pushed over the male spade lug in the opening in the fuse box.
For a ground, hook up to any good chassis ground.
